Guinness is a five month old Australian Shepherd puppy that needed dog training in Fairfax, VA. He is a very sweet and smart puppy but was a little too rambunctious and nippy for his family. He also liked to jump on guests, chew on their belongings, crowd them in the kitchen and force them to give him attention.
We worked on claiming objects and space without using any painful collars or treats. We then worked on his greeting people at the front door in a respectful manner. We even took him out for a loose leash walk after doing a few quick drills, which he did fantastic with.
After two hours he was calm and relaxed. He wasn’t jumping on people for attention or trying to steal objects. Their daughter was able to sit on the couch with him and take selfies without him crowding her or getting in her face. She remarked that she liked him a lot more like this.
All of this was done without treats or painful collars. When you learn to relate to your dog in a way they understand your relationship with your dog will deepen and your dog will be more calm and relaxed – even puppies!
